The National Museum of Lithuania will continue to be led by dr. Rūta Kačkutė

The Ministry of Culture’s public tender for the position of director of The National Museum of Lithuania was won by its current director, dr. Rūta Kačkutė. She was the only candidate who participated in the tender.
An archaeologist, museologist and a doctor of the humanitarian sciences – R. Kačkutė has managed the museum since 2019.
The National Museum of Lithuania stores more than one and a half million museum objects and encompasses 11 branches. In the buildings of the Vilnius castles and the former military fortress (Gediminas Castle Tower, the Old and New Arsenals, and the Bastion of the Vilnius Defence Wall), visitors are introduced to the history of pre-modern Lithuania. In the museum’s other branches (The Former Detention House, Kazys Varnelis House-Museum), visitors are presented with the narrative of modern Lithuanian history while Jonas Basanavičius birthplace, Vincas Kudirka Museum and Jonas Šliūpas Museum tell the story of national revival.
