IN 2025, WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR 170TH ANNIVERSARY!
The National Museum of Lithuania is the first public museum in Lithuania.
Its history is an integral part of the development of museology in Lithuania as a whole, and its origins date back to 1855, when the first public museum in Lithuania, Vilnius Museum of Antiquities, was founded on the basis of the collections of Eustachijus Tiškevičius.
Today, the National Museum of Lithuania holds the largest collection in Lithuania – more than 1.5 million exhibits of significance to the history and culture of Lithuania – and unites 12 branches.
