The children’s book “History Wags the Tail: Short Stories about the Long Friendship between Man and Dog in Lithuania” by Sigita Mikšaitė and illustrator Reda Tomingas has won two awards from the Lithuanian branch of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).

The book was evaluated in the prize competition “IBBY Best Books for Children and Teens of 2025” organized by the Lithuanian branch of IBBY. It was awarded the Aldona Liobytė Prize for best debut of the year and the prize for best educational book for children.

The publication invites young readers to learn about the history of friendship between man and dog in Lithuania through true facts as well as stories from dogs of different periods. It is a lively, charming and visually expressive telling, in which the story is presented in an understandable and engaging way.

These awards are a significant recognition not only for the creators of the book, but also for the direction of children’s literature developed by the National Museum of Lithuania.
