In the Czech Republic, book design is an important part of national culture, with deep-rooted traditions. Since 1965, the Most Beautiful Book Competition, the oldest and largest book design competition in the country, has been organised annually. In 2024, submitted publications were assessed based on graphic quality, design, printing, binding, illustrations, originality of concept and overall artistic integrity. The exhibition presents 46 laureates, reflecting current trends and creative explorations in contemporary Czech book design.
The museum’s halls also exhibit the most beautiful Lithuanian books of 2025 – award-winning publications from the 34th Book Art Competition. The exhibition features 21 books, assessed for their conceptual graphic design, typographic culture, printing quality, and harmonious dialogue with the text.
The exhibitions are organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius and “Country of Books”.
The exhibition at the Kazys Varnelis House-Museum will be open from March 18 to September 27, 2026.
