Accessibility for the visually impaired

For the blind

When arriving by public transport, the most convenient way to get off the bus is at the Kalnų parkas bus stop, which is the closest to the museum, at T. Kosciuškos str. 6, Vilnius.

It is not easy to get from the bus stop to the entrance of the museum, as there are no tactile indicator surfaces yet, but we will be happy to meet you and escort you to the museum. Please contact us before you arrive at +370 (5) 239 4574.

For the visually impaired

Coming from the centre along T. Kosciuškos Street:

– Look for the outdoor exhibition stands next to the building on your right and the large white letters LNM.
– When you find these objects, look up and on the second floor of the building you will find the black letters “House of Histories”.
– Near the building you will see a metal gate, which is open during museum hours. This gate leads to the courtyard of the museum.
– Go up the hill and go straight ahead, you will see a large brown door on your left, with a glazed stand next to it. This door leads into the museum. There is a staircase next to the door, it is not marked with contrasting stripes.
– When you enter the museum, immediately to your left will be the ticket office and the information centre, where the staff will give you the information you need about the exhibitions on display.

The museum’s exhibitions are located on the ground and first floors of the building. Access to the second floor of the building is via a spacious elevator.

Visitors will be welcomed with free audio guides at the exhibitions. Interactive exhibition elements will stimulate the curiosity of young visitors. You are welcome to buy or browse exhibition catalogues and enjoy a coffee in the Museum’s cosy café.

About us

The House of Histories is a space which invites visitors to experience history not as something fixed in the past but as integral to the reality we are creating today.

Here visitors can explore and discuss different ways of understanding history. Things that happened in the past are studied by historians, archeologists and anthropologists, but they also inspire today’s designers, artists, photographers and other creators. This whole synthesis of differences is brought together by a curator into a new work – an exhibition.
