Posters
The collection is comprised of more than 18 thousand posters and playbills. The earliest exhibits in this collection are playbills of various productions of the Vilnius Theatre from the early 19th century. There is a unique poster of the uprising of 1863–1864, which marks the beginning of the history of the Lithuanian poster. Posters of the first art exhibitions, elections to the Seimas of Independent Lithuania, and propaganda posters of the struggle for the Vilnius region have special historical value. Posters from the Soviet period constitute a large group, and posters published between 1988 and 1990 reflect the period of national revival. In 2001 the works by Stasys Eidrigevičius and Vytautas Kaušinis were added to the collection. It is constantly supplemented with posters of today’s major cultural and political events.
