The collection of household utensils consists of objects and vessels for preparing, keeping and eating food, which are related to peasants’ daily life. The earliest household utensils are troughs, tubs and wooden mortars, both carved and made from staves. A sizeable group consists of crockery, handmade or made on potter’s wheel: vessels for cooking and serving food, keeping liquids and processing milk. Decorative jugs for festive occasions can be distinguished. A great many exhibits, such as wickerwork baskets, are plaited from twigs. There are quite many bast utensils and snuff boxes. The collection is supplemented with implements for preparing food products – grindstones, oil and cheese presses, and various measures for measuring liquid or dry products or grain.
